Andy Murray reveals regret in tennis career – and his wife wouldn’t be happy if he did it now

Sir Andy Murray has admitted his one regret from his tennis career has nothing to do with the sport itself – and it relates to golf.
As a top player, the Brit spent a lot of his career travelling to different parts of the world, but he has now admitted he never managed to see the cities or squeeze a round in.
Murray was invited to the Pro-Am at the BMW Championship this week at Wentworth, and talkSPORT was there to speak to him.
Legendary reporter Ian Abrahams grabbed a few words with Murray about his love for golf.
He said: “I love it. I love the practicing. I like competing. I like spending time with friends and going to new places.
“I travelled to lots of great cities when I was playing tennis, but never played any golf there, and I regret it a bit because now that I am into my golf.
“I went to Melbourne 18 or 20 times when I was playing tennis, and they’ve got three of the top 15 golf courses in the world, and I never went to any of them.
“It’s a pretty long way to go back for a golf trip, I am not sure my wife would let me take a week or ten days to go over to Australia and play golf.
“But I am loving it, and I like the practice element.”
When asked if he would ever consider playing professionally, Murray stated: “I want to play more competitions, but competitions at my level.
“There is no chance that I could ever play to the level that these guys on the tour do. I certainly have no aspirations of that, but I want to play in more events.
“The great thing with golf is you can see over a period of time whether you are getting better.
“But I am certainly not trying to get to the level of the guys on tour.”
What other sports professionals are good at golf?
There are several former footballers who are very good at golf, with many ex-professionals turning their eyes to the green as a way of relaxation.
Among the best is former Fulham and Hull City star Jimmy Bullard.
Bullard co-presents his own YouTube golf show on Tubes and Ange Golf Life, set up by Peter ‘Tubes’ Dale – a beloved Soccer AM fan favourite.
Ex-Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is also a very keen golfer, though, he looks to be heading down the punditry route with TNT rather than trying to make it as a professional.
In America, NBA star Steph Curry is widely seen as the best golfer of current US sports stars.
He plays off a +2 handicap and spends a lot of free time on the golf course.
Murray’s old rival Rafael Nadal is also extremely good.
In terms of current sportspeople, England captain Harry Kane spends a lot of time golfing and has a +4 handicap.
