BCA issues statement after FBI freezes state out of shooting probe

Now that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Affairs will no longer lead a joint investigation with the FBI into the fatal shooting of Renee Good yesterday, the BCA has issued a statement. Yesterday afternoon, the FBI informed the BCA that “the investigation would now be led solely by the FBI, and the BCA would no longer have access to the case materials, scene evidence or investigative interviews necessary to complete a thorough and independent investigation,” the statement read in part. “Without complete access to the evidence, witnesses and information collected, we cannot meet the investigative standards that Minnesota law and the public demands. As a result, the BCA has reluctantly withdrawn from the investigation.” You can read the full statement here.
A number of Twin Cities businesses have remained closed as the surge of ICE agents continues. According to Bring Me The News, “reasons for closing [vary] from a desire to support the community to fearing for the safety of staff and customers.”

Minnesota added 8,900 jobs in October and November of last year, KNSI reports. “The unemployment rate is still on the rise, though, as gains were offset by a surge in Minnesotans looking for work. Over the same two-month period, 8,500 state residents entered the labor force, which caused the unemployment rate to spike from 3.7% to 4%.” Over the last twelve months, Minnesota has added around 40,000 jobs, 99.5% of which are in the private sector.
