Britney Spears' Ex-Husband Kevin Federline Wants To Prove He Wasn't A 'Deadbeat' Father With Memoir

Britney Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is set to debut his memoir next month, and it promises several revelations about the former dancer's life.
In the book, Federline aims to share his own "side of the story," including how he stepped up for his two sons with Spears against the long-standing perception of him as a "deadbeat" dad.
The memoir will also touch on his relationship with Britney Spears and on the years of her conservatorship under her father that followed their divorce.
Britney Spears' Ex-Husband Worked On His Memoir For 'Three Or Four Years'

Ahead of the release of Kevin Federline's tell-all memoir, "You Thought You Knew," a close source revealed that the project was carefully planned and not intended as a revenge move in response to Britney Spears' own memoir nearly two years ago.
According to the insider, the former dancer spent three to four years working on the book, which he now intends to use to tell his own "side of the story." He is also using the opportunity to set the record straight against other false narratives about his life that have circulated in the past.
"This wasn't an overnight thing that he threw together after Britney came out with her book," the source shared exclusively with Us Weekly.
They added, "He's never really told his side of the story in depth, and he knows interviews and documentaries can be twisted, so he wanted people to hear it straight from the horse's mouth."
The Book Will Talk About Kevin Federline's Experience As A Father

As for what the book entails, the synopsis revealed that Federline intends to share details about his rise to celebrity and fatherhood.
It will also share other personal stories that will reveal the "man behind the mythology."
On fatherhood, the book will focus "primarily on Kevin's experience as a father" to his five children, Kori, 23, Kaleb, 21, Sean Preston, 19, Jayden, 18, Jordan, 14, and Peyton, 11.
Preston and Jayden are his two children with Spears.
Britney Spears' Ex-Husband Wants The Book To Show People That He 'Really Stepped Up As A Father'

When the book debuts next month, Spears' ex-husband, Federline, hopes people will finally recognize that "he really stepped up as a father when he needed to."
"Kevin gave up a lot to give those boys [Preston and Jayden] a semblance of normalcy, and he's tried to keep his other kids out of the spotlight too," the insider said about Federline.
The source continued, "He wanted to write the book to shed light on what his life was really like behind the scenes because so many people thought he was a deadbeat and he wasn't."
The Memoir Will Also Touch On Kevin Federline's Romance With Britney Spears

As many may have expected, Federline's book will also talk about his failed marriage to Spears, including how they fell in "love at first sight" and "picking up the pieces after the tumult of their divorce."
Additionally, the book touches on the years that Spears was placed under her father, Jamie Spears' conservatorship, despite their marriage having ended at the time.
With regards to this, the source noted Ferderline's opinion on the legal arrangement, claiming the actor thought it was "a good thing for Britney and their family even if it was flawed in some ways."
Meanwhile, for those who would expect some pointed remarks about Spears, there allegedly aren't any, as a second source claimed Federline "doesn't attack Britney or get too personal about her life."
Rather, he focuses on his "decisions, feelings, and overcoming challenges" as well as his many attempts "to protect those around him while still navigating his life as best as he could."
Netizens Say Kevin Federline Wrote The Book Because He Is Broke

Despite Federline's reasons for writing the book, fans of Spears have critically panned it ahead of its release, per OK Magazine!
Some went as far as insinuating that Federline was broke and chose to write the book to make some cash.
One wrote, "That child support dried up realllllll quick," referencing how Spears may no longer be required to pay child support for Jayden since he has turned 18.
A second netizen commented, "His timing tells you everything," while a third reacted,
"GET A JOB. STAY AWAY FROM HER."
One more person remarked, "He will milk the relationship he had with Britney till the end of time. I am tired of this man."
