Caden Durham Returning to LSU
We’re getting the band back together.
Rising junior running back Caden Durham announced today that he is withdrawing his name from the transfer portal and returning to LSU. Durham initially put his name into the portal the day after it opened, and since then LSU has added two running backs from the portal: Raycine Guillory, from Utah, and Rod Gainey Jr. from Charlotte.
Instead Durham will be either the 1A running back or 1B back alongside Harlem Berry, whom LSU officially announced was retuning on Sunday.
In two seasons with the Tigers, Durham has amassed 1,609 total yards from scrimmage. He had a standout freshman season in 2o24, leading the Tigers in rushing with 753 yards on 140 carries. He did that despite dislocating some toes.
This year, Durham’s numbers dipped a bit with 505 yards on 111 carries, but the combination of injury (a sprained ankle) poor play from the offensive line and even worse coaching from the offensive staff all factored into the sophomore slump. If he’s healthy and the new coaching staff elevates the offense, then there’s no reason why Durham and Berry can’t be one of the premier tandems in the country next season.
