Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson already doing what took all of last season

The magic number was one.
That was the number of times the Chicago Bears scored a touchdown on their opening drives last season.
A singularly putrid one.
It appears the 2025 Bears are not like last year’s team—not with new head coach Ben Johnson at the helm.
Look no further than Chicago’s first drive of the season, when Caleb Williams flawlessly led the Bears down the field on Monday Night Football against the Vikings.
Williams led a successful opening drive to Minnesota’s nine-yard line, where he finished it off himself with a scamper around the left side into the end zone.
Last year’s dreadful stat has already been matched—in the very first game.
Not only that, but Williams started the game by completing his first ten passes, going 10-for-10 for 86 yards. He also added 30 yards on the ground, using his feet when needed.
The 10 completions to start the game were the longest streak by a Bears quarterback to start a season since 1978.
The Johnson-Williams partnership is off to a good start.
The Bears are looking for their first winning season since 2018 and first playoff win since 2010.
