Cardinals coaching search: Denver Broncos DC Vance Joseph to interview
The Arizona Cardinals have begun the process of interviewing candidate for their head coaching vacancy created when they fired Jonathan Gannon on Monday, following their 3-14 season.
The first name to come up connected with the Cardinals is a familiar face.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will interview with the Cardinals for the job, as well as interview with the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants and Tennessee Titans.
Joseph, who has been the DC for the Broncos for the last three season, was Arizona's defensive coordinator from 2019-2022 under head coach Kliff Kingsbury. This past season, Joseph's defense with the Broncos was No. 2 in the league in yards allowed and No. 3 in points allowed. In 2024, it was seventh in yards and third in points.
He also has head coaching experience, going 11-21 in two seasons in 2017-2018 for the Broncos.
He interviewed for the Cardinals' job in 2023 before Gannon was hired and he landed with Sean Payton's staff in Denver.
He was well respected in the building while with the Cardinals and by players.
Joseph, as of publishing, is one of five candidates known to be connected to the Cardinals' vacancy.
He is able to interview this week even though the Broncos are in the playoffs because they are the No. 1 seed in the AFC and have a first-round bye.
