Justin Herbert is fresh off a stellar performance against Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 of the NFL season, and the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback has delivered one more blow to the star tight end.

Herbert, 27, revealed his pick for who he believes will perform at the Super Bowl LX halftime show in February 2026, and it’s not Taylor Swift, Kelce’s fiancée.

The Pro Bowler appeared on former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez’s “Rearview” show where he was asked which of three artists was most likely to have the Super Bowl halftime honor.

Out of Swift, Ariana Grande and Post Malone, Herbert chose Post Malone.

Why Patrick Mahomes Says Taylor Swift Performing at Super Bowl Is ‘Hard’

Malone, 28, has performed at the Super Bowl before, but never during halftime. In 2024, he sang “America the Beautiful” before the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers to win their fourth championship.

Even though Herbert disagreed, many fans expect Swift, 35, to be the selection. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fueled the rumors when he appeared on Today on Wednesday, September 3.

“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell, 66, said at the time. “She is a special, special talent. And obviously she would be welcome at any time.”

Asked directly if the league was working on booking her for a performance, Goodell cryptically replied, “I can’t tell you anything about that,” before adding, “It’s a maybe.”

Travis Kelce Gushes Over Taylor Swift’s Work Ethic on ‘Eras Tour’

Some Swifties believe the singer even hinted at a halftime performance when she appeared on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast in August. In addition to flat-out saying she has watched every Super Bowl halftime show, Swift also slid in some numbers that raised eyebrows.

For one, she said she thinks about sourdough bread “60 percent of the time.” The upcoming Super Bowl will be the 60th, and Sourdough is the name of the mascot for the San Francisco 49ers — the team hosting the game at Levi’s Stadium.

She also thanked Travis’ brother and cohost, Jason Kelce, for “screaming for 47 seconds.” Levi’s Stadium was the 47th stop on Swift’s Era’s Tour.

Swift has never performed at the Super Bowl, but she has been in attendance at the last two, supporting Kelce in the Chiefs’ 2024 win and their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February. She has said in the past that she would not take the gig until she owns or rerecords all her music. She checked that box in May when she bought the masters for her first six albums.

Super Bowl performance or not, Swift has a busy few weeks ahead. She’s gearing up to release her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3.
