Chris Noth doesn’t want to discuss shading Sarah Jessica Parker

Actor Chris Noth is addressing his viral dig at his “Sex and the City” costar, Sarah Jessica Parker, by not really addressing it — except to say he was being “slightly saracastic” and the issue isn’t worth talking about.

“My off-the-cuff, slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot,” Noth wrote on Instagram Wednesday.  “It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world there are more important things to worry about.”

North, 61, stirred up the online drama when he posted another seemingly unrelated Instagram post on Saturday, People reported. A photo showed him at his gym, working out. He captioned the photo: “(Expletive) new years – LETS GO!!!!”

In response, someone asked: “You mean (expletive) sjp & her award right? Lol.” The fan appeared to be mocking Parker for accepting the prestigious Carol Burnett Award from the Golden Globe Awards organization last week.

Noth replied to the fan, “Right.”

There have been questions in recent yeas about whether Noth and Parker are still friends, after they worked together for six seasons on the groundbreaking, HBO romantic comedy series, “Sex and the City.” Noth played “Mr. Big,” the on-again-off-again boyfriend and, eventually, the husband of Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. The two also reunited for two film sequels and for the rebooted series, titled “And Just Like That” in 2021.

However Noth’s charactered died in the premiere episode of the first season. His Mr. Big was supposed to appear in a fantasy sequence for the first season finale, but he was written out of the show after Noth was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women in December 2021, according to Us Weekly. Shortly after the allegations surfaced, Parker and her “And Just Like That” costars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis publicly distanced themselves from Noth.

In a joint statement, the co-stars said: “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it much be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

Noth swiftly dismissed all allegations of sexual impropriety as “categorically false,” Us Weekly reported. He told The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported on the allegations, that they were coming from “individuals I met years, even decades, ago. …. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross.”

Noth insisted that the encounters he had with his accusers were consensual. He said, “I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

Parker confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter in May 2022 that she had not spoken to Noth since she issued her public statement the previous December, Us Weekly reported. The actress also seemed conflicted when asked to comment on the accusations, Us Weekly added.
