More news on the ICE front:
“More than two dozen [ICE] vehicles on the ground in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area currently lack the necessary emergency lights and sirens” required to be “compliant with law enforcement requirements,” Wired reports. The details came from a contractual document published Tuesday in a federal register.

Twin Cities activists and faith leaders “are calling for a day of protest on Jan. 23 with no work, school or shopping,” reports KARE11. “‘We will pray for the power we have as people of faith to stop this madness,’” said James Erlandson, pastor at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in St. Paul.

A McDonald’s security guard stopped ICE agents from going behind the counter in a North Minneapolis restaurant, My North News reports. “Red Wooten, a security guard and Northsider, … greeted the two agents at the front door and blocked them from going behind the counter. … ICE left empty-handed. Wooten said he just stood his ground, ‘10 toes down.’

Bring Me The News has a list of events cancelled and businesses closed due to ICE activity in the Twin Cities

In other news:
Minneapolis-based U.S. Bancorp will “buy investment banking firm BTIG for up to $1 billion in a strategic move meant to expand client services,” the Star Tribune reports. “‘This is a meaningful new capability for us,’” said Stephen Philipson, U.S. Bancorp’s head of wealth, corporate, commercial and institutional banking.

Grayson, a stark white arctic wolf that greeted visitors for years at the International Wolf Center in Ely, died suddenly over the weekend,” the Star Tribune reports. The beloved pack leader was 9 years old. “His body was sent to veterinarians with the University of Minnesota for a necropsy, the animal equivalent of an autopsy.” RIP, Grayson.
