Dylan Efron Thought 'DWTS' Jive Could Be ‘Worst’ Dance Despite Earning 10
Dylan Efron is still standing after his energetic jive during Dancing With the Stars season 34’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night.
“I stumbled a little bit out there, but I still am happy with where this week started to where it ended,” Efron, 33, exclusively told Us Weekly after the Tuesday, November 4, live show. “[It] was night and day, and it was cool to turn something that could have been one of our worst dances into what I felt could have been one of our best. So, I’m proud of how hard we worked this week.”
Efron and his pro partner, Daniella Karagach, performed a jive to Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing” to mixed results from the judges. Efron and Karagach, 32, earned a 36 out of 40 — including their first 10 from guest judge Flavor Flav.
“I’m so happy and it’s one of those where I still am at this point where I really want to go out there and do the perfect dance and I still feel like I have it in me,” Efron told Us of the judges’ feedback. “Flavor Flav saw me after the show [and] just said, ‘I love how hard you’re working,’ and he gave me a really nice pep talk, saying, ‘Keep doing what you’re doing and it’s coming.’ So, I’m happy.”

It’s not just the judges — Flav, 66, was joined on the panel by Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough — who have recognized Efron’s progress over the course of his eight-week training journey.
“Dani’s a superhero for going the extra mile with me because each week it starts on a step that I’ve never learned and we have a long way to go,” he said on Tuesday. “So, we learn the steps, we learn the choreo, we perfect the choreo, and it’s a full packed week.”
Efron further called Karagach “a trooper” for consistently “putting in the work” to help him perform to his best ability. (Efron and Karagach also performed in a group number on Tuesday, which earned a perfect 40 from the judges.)

Karagach, who previously won DWTS season 30, can also tell how far Efron’s efforts have come.
“He has no prior dance experience. He really started from the ground up, and the fact that he worked so hard in the studio is finally paying off and people are recognizing it week to week,” she told The Hollywood Reporter last month. “It just makes me such a proud coach. That is a dream partner. I’ll teach you how to dance, but I can’t teach you how to work hard and be a good person. For him to show up, want to work hard and actually be interested in the technique and do everything he can possible, even on his own time, he goes and rehearses. It makes me feel so good knowing how much he loves it and respects it.”

Next, Karagach is gearing up to teach Efron two dances for the Tuesday, November 11, live broadcast. In addition to performing a routine during the DWTS 20th Birthday Party, the pair will compete in the dance relay marathon.
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
