Eberechi Eze given 3/10 with Harry Kane amongst lowest rated England players in boring win over Andorra

‘Can you remember anything special? Me neither.’
That was the brutal verdict of talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham when describing the performance of Arsenal star Eberechi Eze in England’s drab 2-0 win against Andorra.
Thomas Tuchel‘s men eased to victory at Villa Park on Saturday to rack up their fourth consecutive win in World Cup qualifying.
An own goal from Christian Garcia Gonzalez in the 25th minute got the England fans off their seat after the defender headed home Noni Madueke’s cross.
And the supporters were on their feet and heading out the stadium before the full-time whistle in what was an uninspiring performance from the hosts.
That’s despite Declan Rice doubling England’s lead in the 67th minute after getting on the end of Reece James’ superb delivery.
Giving his instant match reaction, Durham said: “I thought that was tough.
“And the fact there were thousands of fans that left way before the end of the game here at Villa Park…
“And when you bear in mind, it’s only just coming up to 7pm, does that not reflect on what they thought of the performance here ?
“Yes, they won, but nobody was really entertained that much were they?”
He added: “What really matters is if we win the World Cup, nobody’s going to remember a dull 2-0 against Andorra on a Saturday afternoon back in September.
“What really matters is how they played then, but Thomas Tuchel had said to us, ‘We want to show the fans, it’s time to start showing the fans.’
“For me that really hasn’t happened tonight.”
Tuchel will be hoping for a more convincing display from his players when England face Serbia on Tuesday night at Rajko Mitic Stadium.
Here’s how Tuchel rated and slated England’s stars…
Wasn’t an Eze watch…
In the absence of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer, Eze was handed a chance to shine in the No.10 position.
But the 27-year-old couldn’t mark his start with a second international goal.
And he will be left ruing his miss in the second half after he stung the hands of goalkeeper Iker Alvarez.
Not impressed with what he witnessed from the ex-Crystal Palace hero, Durham, who rated Eze 3/10, remarked: “Has to grab a chance like this and he didn’t.
“Can you remember anything special? Me neither.”
Kane is not able
Unfortunately for Harry Kane, the England skipper couldn’t score for a six match running.
In fact, he barely had a sniff on goal as he struggled to offer anything against an Andorra side that are ranked 174th in the world.
Hitting out at the Bayern Munich striker, who was awarded a 4/10, Durham stated: “I was disappointed in the captain.
“No goal, didn’t offer much creativity, was that the best you can do?”
Ell of a debut
It was a standout performance for Elliot Anderson who dazzled on his England debut.
Starting in a double-pivot alongside Rice, the Nottingham Forest never shied away from the ball.
Always making himself an outlet and looking to drive forward, the former Newcastle man will hope his display will see him rewarded with a start against Serbia.
Anderson had 127 touches, while completing 107 out of his 114 passes, while he also won seven duels and recovered the ball on 15 occasions.
Discussing Anderson, who received an 8/10, Durham said: “England’s standout player, passing, speed of thought, very impressive.”
Where’s the entertainment?
Despite England boasting a whopping 83 per cent possession, they failed to do much in the final third.
Though England bounced back with a win following their defeat to Senegal last time out at the City Ground, it wasn’t a pretty sight for fans.
And as Durham pointed out, the fans seemingly couldn’t wait to leave.
Awarding Tuchel a 3/10, Durham said: “He promised a lot, but didn’t deliver, thousands left Villa Park early which says it all.”
