Fans Gush Over Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Reuniting in 'The Rip' Trailer

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are back together for their new film, The Rip, and fans already can’t get enough of the iconic duo.

The official trailer for The Rip dropped on Wednesday, September 10, giving viewers a first look at Damon, 54, and Affleck’s roles as Miami police officers. The Netflix action thriller, based on true events, follows a team from the Miami PD who stumble upon $20 million in cash while raiding a stash house.

“It would be so much easier if we stole this money,” Damon jokes, as he and his team are counting up the bills before the camera pans to a stoic Affleck.

While inside the discovered stash house, the phone rings and delivers an ominous message to Affleck, 53, and his team.

“No one needs to die tonight,” a modulated voice says. “You have 30 minutes to get out of that house.”

The clip fast forwards to Damon and Affleck trying to formulate a game plan.

“What we do right now and who we talk to actually matters,” Damon says.

However, tension brews between the duo.

“The longer we stick around here, the dicier this s***’s going to be,” Affleck retorts. “Tell me what’s f***ing going on!”

Damon is taken aback by Affleck’s reaction and asks, “You think I want to jack this rip?”

“I don’t trust you right now, and that’s a f***ing problem,” Affleck fires back.

While it’s uncertain if Damon and Affleck will end up on the same side in The Rip, countless fans are excited to watch the story unfold when the movie drops on Netflix on January 16, 2026.

Affleck and Damon have been close pals since childhood, growing up together in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The pair both went on to pursue acting careers and collaborated on their hit 1997 movie, Good Will Hunting. Following the success of the Oscar-winning film, Affleck and Damon have continued to work on a variety of projects together, eventually confounding their production company, Artists Equity. The last time Affleck and Damon shared the screen was in Air, which premiered in 2023.
