Former Tennessee, Penn State guard to enter transfer portal
The Penn State Nittany Lions struggled through an abysmal 12-20 campaign last season, finishing last in the Big Ten standings with a 3-17 conference record. The road won't get much easier moving forward, as they'll be without standout guard Freddie Dilione V, who plans to enter the transfer portal, according to On3's Joe Tipton.
Dilione was the Nittany Lions' leading scorer, averaging 14.0 points to go along with 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He played in all 32 games, converting on 47.3% from the field and 31.8% from 3-point range.
Prior to his time at Penn State, Dilione began his career with the Tennessee Volunteers. He had high expectations coming out of high school as a four-star recruit and a top 10 combo guard in the nation, though he saw just 5.2 minutes per game as a freshman. He then decided to enter the portal, eventually landing at Penn State.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder made an immediate impact to the Nittany Lions as a sophomore, scoring 9.4 points in just under 25 minutes per game. His role expanded during the 2025-26 season, blossoming into the team's leading scorer and one of the top guards in the Big Ten.
Despite appearing to find his footing with the Nittany Lions, Dilione has decided to re-enter the transfer portal, looking for a new home for his final season of eligibility.
