Germany will need to top Group A in the European section of the World Cup Qualifiers as they are expected to against three much smaller nations; Luxembourg, Northern Ireland and Slovakia.

They face Northern Ireland this weekend as part of the first batch of group games ahead of next year’s World Cup based in North America.

Germany faced Slovakia on Wednesday evening away from home, but shockingly lost 2-0, so they need a quick turnaround returning home for the Sunday clash.

But Germany’s three quick goals in the first half should have sealed the game, their changes after saw too much pressure – but that won’t happen against N. Ireland.

They will try to dominate possession, but the visitors will be well up for a challenge this weekend as they look to make a surprise entry in the World Cup.

The last time they qualified for this major tournament was in 1986 while their last major tournament qualification came in 2016 for the Euros.

Northern Ireland placed third in their group but advanced to the knockouts thanks to a win against Ukraine.

They met Wales in the Round of 16, losing 1-0 to the side that made it to semis.
