‘He was vulnerable’ – Conor Benn identifies key change he must make to win Chris Eubank Jr rematch

Conor Benn intends to fight with his head rather than his heart when he runs back his grudge match with Chris Eubank Jr.

The fierce rivals are set to rematch on November 15 at the site of their inaugural encounter, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Last time out in April, Eubank Jr got his hand raised via unanimous decision in a hard-fought 12-round war that saw him pushed all the way to the final bell by ‘The Destroyer’.

Benn‘s gutsy display saw his stock rise tenfold in defeat.

However, the 28-year-old doesn’t want his bravery to be the main talking point in the aftermath of their upcoming sequel.

What has Conor Benn said about his rematch with Chris Eubank Jr?

“I felt like I could have knocked him out, I felt like he was vulnerable,” Benn told Sky Sports of his first fight with Eubank Jr.

“At any given moment, I could have had him, but the moment never came because I never picked my shots.

“There was no shot selection. So it’s just a matter of using that experience gained.

“I’ll always be a ferocious, dangerous fighter. I’ll always be the fighter that puts it all on the line and takes risks.

“But it’s calculated risks. It’s going in there and fighting with my head, not my heart…

“It’s a matter of sticking to the tactics and the game plan.

“Rather than me going in there and trying to inflict pain and damage, for me, I should have just been more disciplined, more calculated and punches in bunches.

Tempers flared in the build-up when Eubank Jr struck Benn with an egg[/caption]

“I was so eager to get in there and do some damage, which you could say I done. But for me, it’s all about winning this time round.”

Benn and Eubank Jr had a particularly acrimonious build-up to their first fight, with emotions spilling over on several occasions.

Both men had already seen one fight fall through back in October 2022 when Benn failed a pre-fight drug test for the banned substance clomifene.

The British Boxing Board of Control subsequently cleared Benn, but it left a bad taste in Eubank Jr’s mouth.

At their launch press conference in Manchester, Eubank Jr struck Benn with an egg, causing all hell to break loose.

The pair had to be repeatedly separated by security thereafter as tempers flared in scenes reminiscent of their fathers’ feud.
