High School Roundup: Oneonta girls take second at STAC Duals

WRESTLING

STAC Girls Division Duals

Host Oneonta went 4-1, only losing narrowly to Chenango Forks, as the Yellowjackets hosted a six-team, all-girls Southern Tier Athletic Conference Duals Tournament on Wednesday, Jan 7, at Anthony C. Drago Gymnasium.

Oneonta beat Owego (29-20), Windsor (39-15), Susquehanna Valley (39-10) and Johnson City (40-10), but lost to Chenango Forks (29-25).

Payton Little (138), Laylani Wiltshire (185) and Aniye-Jahy Cadeus (235) went undefeated for the Jackets. Little was 4-0 with a pin, a technical fall and two forfeits. Wiltshire went 4-0 with three technical falls and a forfeit. Cadeus went 4-0 with two pins and two forfeits.

Brooklynn Boecke (114) went 4-1 with three pins and a forfeit. Kinnley Wightman (145) went 3-1 with two first-round pins. Willow Robinson (152) went 3-1. Grace Cohn (165) went 3-1 with three pins.

Oneonta will compete in the STAC Memorial Girls Tournament on Friday, Jan. 9, in Elmira.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Sidney 48, Unatego 42

Nayla Miley scored a game-high 19 points as host Sidney won a Midstate Athletic Conference game Wednesday against Unatego.

Sidney led at halftime, 22-18.

Raelynn Parks scored 10 points to lead Unatego.

Bella Conroy scored 13 points for the Sabres, which also got 12 points from Chloe van der Sommen.

Unatego (4-4, 1-2) hosts Chenango Valley for a non-league game Friday.

Sidney (4-4, 2-0) hosts Oxford Academy for a MAC game Thursday, Jan. 15.

Delaware Academy 62, Walton/Downsville 42

Danielle Ennist scored 24 points as Delaware Academy won a Midstate Athletic Conference game Wednesday at Walton.

Tyler Abts scored 15 points and had seven assists for the Bulldogs, which also got 12 points from Lexi Davis.

Grace Walley scored 24 points and had 15 rebounds for W/D, which also got eight points from Kennedy Williams.

Delaware Academy (6-1, 2-0) hosts Deposit/Hancock for a MAC game Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Walton/Downsville (6-3, 2-2) plays a non-league game at Tri-Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

South Kortright/Andes 51, Margaretville 17

Carlee Dropp scored a game-high 13 points as the Rams won a Delaware League game Wednesday in Margaretville.

Lexi Hendrickson scored nine points for SK/A, which also got eight points each from Kennedy Quarino and Madysen Reeves.

South Kortright/Andes (5-4, 3-1) hosts Laurens/Milford for a non-league game Friday.

Bainbridge-Guilford 50, Greene 29

Marissa Mayo scored 14 points and had 13 rebounds as the Bobcats stayed undefeated by beating visiting Greene on Wednesday in a Midstate Athletic Conference game.

Jalyn Winans also had 14 points for B-G, which also got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Emma Kinter.

Mia Yahner scored 12 points to lead Greene, which also got nine points from Hailey Butler.

Bainbridge-Guilford (9-0, 3-0) hosts Oxford for a MAC game Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cherry Valley-Springfield 51, Sharon Springs 45

Caden Laymon scored 16 points and had 11 rebound Wednesday as Cherry Valley-Springfield beat visiting Sharon Springs in a game that did not count in the Tri-Valley League standings.

Aidan Bosc scored 14 points for the Patriots.

Kyran Krebs scored a game-high 20 points for the Spartans, which also got 13 points from Hayden Belfance and 10 points from Michael Cashman.

Cherry Valley-Springfield (4-5, 0-1) plays a TVL game Friday at Richfield Springs.

Sharon Springs (0-5, 0-1) hosts Gilbertsville-Mount Upton for a TVL game Friday.

Schenevus 77, Deposit/Hancock 67

Tim Green scored 21 points and had 10 rebound as visiting Schenevus beat D/H on Wednesday in a non-league game in Deposit.

Sawyer Bridger had 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Dragons, which also got 14 points each from Allen Osborne and Lucien Kortekaas.

Micah Simmons had a game-high 29 points for D/H, as well as 23 rebounds and six assists. Greyson Thomas scored 14 points, and Jacoby Mapes scored 13 points.

Schenevus (5-2, 1-0) hosts Laurens for a Tri-Valley League game Friday.
