Influencer Slammed for Going Out on 30th Birthday With Contagious Infection

Influencer Madeleine White Fedyk is sparking criticism for celebrating her 30th birthday while battling a highly contagious infection.

“Alright, get ready with ol’ pink eye for her 30th birthday party,” White Fedyk, 30, shared in a Saturday, November 8, TikTok video. “This is just my luck, this would happen to me. At least it wasn’t my wedding.”

In the clip, White Fedyk’s eyes were visibly red as she explained that she was celebrating by going to the EDC rave in Orlando, Florida, with “100,000 other people” — which is the “good news.”

“I’m just going to cover it up with sparkles and a pair of sunglasses, call it a goddamn day,” White Fedyk said. “I’m going to be a little bit selective with which makeup I use and where I use it, because I’d rather not throw out my entire makeup bag.”

White Fedyk noted that she was “nowhere near as cautious” as she should’ve been with someone who recently had pink eye, not realizing how “contagious” it is since she has never had it before.

“Also, to be completely honest, if the price to pay for the weekend that I’ve had is conjunctivitis, I’m going to call it a win,” she added, noting that she was placing “lots of blush” to “even out the redness” on her face. “At least I don’t have to worry about spreading it from one eye to the other.”

White Fedyk proceeded to place face gems across her cheeks and forehead, noting that she’s “quite grateful” to be attending a rave to hide her pink eye.

“OK, I think for having pink eye in both eyes, it’s a good effort,” she said while showing off the final look complete with hair tinsel and “flashing” butterfly hair clips. She captioned the post, “Just my luck lol.”

Fans were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section, wondering why White Fedyk would still be attending her party while battling the infection.

“Babe I love you forever and ever and I will say this gently but going out with pink eye is wild. why go to a rave if you know you have conjunctivitis sincerely a healthcare worker,” one user wrote.

Another commenter added, “Girl pink eye is literally VERY CONTAGIOUS, the doctors will give you days off because of this??” A third wondered, “Isn’t pink eye highly contagious?????”

Others, meanwhile, defended White Fedyk’s decision to continue to celebrate her birthday.

“As someone from the UK I can’t get over the dramatics people are going to over a bit conjunctivitis😂 whack in some drops and go about our day here,” one user wrote, while another added, “Everyone forgets she’s English, trust me conjunctivitis (pink eye) is not a huge deal here. We don’t have to stay home, we don’t get time off work etc so as an English person she’s doing what we would do 🤣.”

Pink eye is described by Mayo Clinic as contagious and is often caused by a viral infection which can also be caused by a bacterial infection or an allergic reaction.
