Liverpool fan account issues apology after Mo Salah takes shot over ‘disrespectful’ post

A Liverpool fan account has issued an apology after Mohamed Salah called out a post over comments made about two of his former teammates.

The Reds forward has seen a plethora of talent join him at Anfield this summer in a £446million transfer haul.

Arne Slot’s side smashed the British record twice – first bringing in Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a £116.5m deal.

And they then completed the signing of striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle for £125m on deadline day.

The duo will be part of a new front line alongside Salah in what has the potential to be the best attack in the Premier League.

Wirtz and Isak have replaced Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, who joined Bayern Munich and Al Hilal respectively in £65.5m and £46m plus add-ons transfers.

Both men helped the Reds seal Premier League glory last season and will forever remain icons in the eyes of supporters.

Though one fan account on X – ‘@AnfieldEdition’ – didn’t seem to see it that way as they shared images of Diaz and Nunez along with Wirtz and Isak.

Wirtz has taken Diaz’s No.7 shirt in Merseyside, with Isak being confirmed to be their No.9 following Nunez‘s Saudi switch.

In a message shared to the account’s 506,000 X followers, they said: “Name a bigger upgrade in footballing history.”

And it’s safe to say that the post hasn’t gone down well with Salah.

What has Mohamed Salah said?

The Egypt international replied by saying: “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?”

At the time of writing, Salah’s response has been liked over 550,000 times.

Hours later, an apology came from the account, which read: “Whilst we acknowledge Mo Salah, it wasn’t the intention to disrespect, more highlight the incredible transfers this summer.

“But we’re sorry, @MoSalah. In our opinion, more right than wrong.”

The ‘more right than wrong’ part of the apology refers to Salah once stating he was ‘more out than in’ when negotiating a new contract with Liverpool last season.

However, this was changed to ‘more in than out’ after it was confirmed he’d extended his stay by a further two years.

Along with the Premier League title, Diaz also won the FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield having arrived from Porto in January 2022.

In 148 matches for Liverpool in all competitions, the Colombian winger banged in 41 goals and supplied 23 assists.

Last season proved to be his most production campaign in England having been directly involved in 25 goals.

As for Nunez, he linked up for a then-club-record £85m in the summer of 2022 from Benfica.

He found the back on 40 occasions from his 143 outings, while registering 26 assists.

When will Alexander Isak make his Liverpool debut?

Isak’s future was the talk of the summer with the player finally securing his dream move on the last day of the window.

He failed to feature in any of Newcastle’s opening three matches of the term, and didn’t feature for the club at all during pre-season.

Despite his absence for the Tyneside outfit, Isak is part of Sweden’s squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo.

And he will be desperate for minutes to build up his match fitness.

Isak will be targeting making his Liverpool debut away at Burnley after the international break.

Though he may have to settle for a place on the bench until he gets minutes in his legs.
