Love Is Blind’s Sparkle Megan Reveals She's 'Not Billionaire Rich'
Love Is Blind season 9 star “Sparkle Megan” Walerius is breaking down her financial status once and for all after viral fan discourse.
“I’ve done well. I’m not, like, billionaire rich,” Megan, 35, said on the Wednesday, November 5 episode of the “Viall Files” podcast. “I’m proud of what I’ve done. It’s certainly not, like, ‘Can’t work the rest of my life rich.’”
After podcast cohost Natalie Joy asked Megan if she was “self-made,” the reality TV star nodded affirmatively.
“Yeah, there’s a lot of funny commentary too, like, ‘Her dad died and she took over his business,’” she quipped. “My dad had his own marketing thing, but I never did marketing [and] never took over that business.”
What to Know About 'Love Is Blind' Star Sparkle Megan's Job and Lifestyle
Instead of following in her late father’s footsteps, Megan explained that she worked in the “oil and gas” industry.
“I had, just straight out of college, I was fishing my resume out to all my friends’ parents,” she recalled. “One of my friends in Denver, her dad was an exec at a company there, so he got me in as an admin and then I worked my way up. Two years into being [there,] I got recruited over to a startup, so I had equity in the company, which was the game-changer.”
Megan continued, “Truthfully, my salary was never anything sizable. We would flip oil and gas assets like you would a house. We’d go in, buy or lease some land, drill a couple holes, prove that there’s oil there [and then bigger companies] came in and bought the whole company.”
After Megan’s fledgling firm was acquired on two separate occasions, she then launched her own company in the wellness space.
How Love Is Blind's Jordan Makes Money From 'Blue-Collar' Job
“During the show, I was working on starting a health and wellness business in L.A.,” she explained. “I moved back to Denver and it was way too much. My partners are still running with it, but I’ve stepped away.”
After moving back to her native Colorado, Megan met and got engaged to Jordan Keltner sight unseen in the Love Is Blind season 9 pods. She, however, ultimately called off her engagement over incompatible lifestyles. Within four months, Megan moved on with new boyfriend Paul Wegman before they secretly welcomed son Brooks earlier this year.
“[Paul and I] just immediately clicked. I knew he was everything that I wanted in a partner,” Megan exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “When you know you, you just know — that’s how it was immediately with Paul. … We know how to communicate. We’re emotionally available with one another. We can have fun. We can also sit on the couch and do nothing and not talk.”
According to Megan, she and Paul, 46, have also been thinking about their next steps as a couple.
“We were almost going to get engaged last fall, but we both decided — me especially with how quickly this Love Is Blind experiment happened — we are in no rush if we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together,” she told Us. “Let’s enjoy our time and continue to learn about each other.”
Love Is Blind is streaming on Netflix.
