Man United had audacious deadline day move for England international instantly rejected

Manchester United failed with a late bid to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher, talkSPORT understands.
The Red Devils launched a loan bid for the 22-cap England international on deadline day.
However, Atletico immediately rejected the approach as they were not willing to sanction a temporary exit for Gallagher.
The Spanish side had been willing to sell the 25-year-old this summer but he is now set to stay in Madrid.
Crystal Palace had previously shown interest in re-signing Gallagher.
The former Chelsea starlet spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Selhurst Park, scoring eight goals in 39 appearances.
Gallagher joined Atletico from the Blues last summer and has four years remaining on his deal.
He has since made 53 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side, providing six assists and scoring four times.
Those appearances include in each of Atletico’s opening three matches of the new La Liga campaign.
However, Gallagher has only played a combined 85 minutes with just one start to his name.
As for United, Ruben Amorim may have missed out on one deadline day signing but adds a new face to his squad.
talkSPORT understands the Red Devils have completed a deal for Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens for £18million.
United opted to pursue the signing of the Antwerp man as opposed to Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez.
It followed late interest from the Red Devils in the World Cup winner before they chose to sign Lammens instead.
Meanwhile, two players have left Old Trafford with Antony and Rasmus Hojlund departing the club.
The former has returned to Real Betis on a five-year deal following his successful loan spell during the second half of last season.
Betis have completed the signing worth an initial £19million plus £2.6million in add-ons for the Brazilian.
A 50 per cent sell-on clause has also been included in the deal for Antony, who scored nine goals for the club during his initial spell.
Hojlund’s exit is a loan move, though, joining Serie A champions Napoli for the season.
The deal includes a £35million obligation to buy if the club qualify for the Champions League.
