Mavericks Extension Unlikely For Anthony Davis, Could Lead To Trade
Anthony Davis will become extension eligible this offseason with the Dallas Mavericks. However, Davis' reps at Klutch Sports Group reportedly don't believe an extension with Dallas is on the table. That could lead to the Mavericks looking to move Davis ahead of next month's trade deadline.
Furthermore, Davis' agent Rich Paul has reportedly pressed the Mavs into being more aggressive at looking into the veteran big man's trade market. Things between Davis and Dallas haven't turned sour, but it's becoming clear that the player doesn't see a future for himself with the Mavericks.
From the team's side, the Mavs will continue to listen to offers for Davis, but they don't feel they have to trade him. Dallas would like to see how things look when Kyrie Irving returns and plays alongside Davis and rookie Cooper Flagg.
