Michigan State women's basketball starter Rashunda Jones enters transfer portal
The Michigan State women's basketball program has had a second starter enter the transfer portal.
Starting guard Rashunda Jones announced her decision to enter the portal on Tuesday, April 7 after spending just one season with the Spartans.
Jones was a key component for the Spartans while helping them to a 23-9 mark that included reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament. She started 28 of 31 games and ranked third for MSU in scoring at 11.7 points per game. Jones shot 82.2% from the free-throw line and was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive team.
"Thank you to my coaches, teammates and especially my family for your constant support and for believing in me," Jones said in a post announcing her transfer. "With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. This was not an easy decision, but I'm excited for what the future holds."
Jones is the fourth MSU player to enter the transfer portal, joining starter Inếs Sotelo and reserves Jordan Ode and Juliann Woodard.
Jones, a South Bend, Indiana, native, played the first two seasons of her career at Purdue before joining the Spartans as a transfer last offseason.
With her announcement, Kennedy Blair is the only primary starter from last season for MSU currently slated to return. Grace VanSlooten and Jalyn Brown each have graduated.
