NBC Teases 'Sunday Night Football' Return With Taylor Swift-Type Countdown

Are football fans ready for it? Ahead of Sunday Night Football’s return to NBC, the broadcast gave Us a Taylor Swift-worthy teaser.

“We’re back in our primetime era,” a Sunday, September 21, Instagram post read. “13 days till the album drop … 0 days till SNF.”

The @SNFonNBC account uploaded an orange sparkly graphic that read “9.21.25 Chiefs vs. Giants at 7:00 p.m. ET.” (The Kansas City Chiefs have traveled to New York City for their matchup against the New York Giants.)

Of course, devoted Swifties quickly recognized a similar background from Swift’s recent countdowns to announce her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, that drops in less than 13 days as of publication.

Swift, 35, confirmed on an August episode of now-fiancé Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast that her 12th album was on the way and inspired by her journey on the Eras Tour.

“I would do three shows in a row, [and then] I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, [then] go back to the tour,” she said last month. “I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.”

Swift continued, “I also know the pressure I’m putting on this record by saying that, but I don’t care ’cause I love it that much, and I’m so proud of it. It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in my life. So, that effervescence has come through on this record.”

Swift performed her worldwide Eras Tour from March 2023 to December 2024, which was also the catalyst for her romance with Chiefs tight end Kelce, 35.

After Kelce attended her July 2023 concert in Kansas City, he mentioned on his podcast that he felt “butthurt” that he was unable to secure a meet-and-greet with the singer and gift her a friendship bracelet featuring his phone number. . The pop star ultimately heard his podcast plea and reached out before they started privately dating.

After Swift and Kelce made their public debut at one of his September 2023 football games, she started learning about the sport to cheer on his quest for victory.

“I fell in love with it, [and] I became obsessed with it,” Swift said on Kelce’s podcast last month, detailing her understanding for football. “I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’ My friends were like, ‘Who body-snatched you? What do you mean, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy?’ I was freaking out.”
