NFL Commissioner Says ‘Maybe’ to a Taylor Swift Super Bowl Performance

Football fans who are tired of seeing Taylor Swift during NFL games could be in for a rude awakening.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell left the door open to possibly having Swift, 35, perform at a future Super Bowl LX halftime show.
“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell, 66, said during a Wednesday, September 3, appearance on Today. “She is a special, special talent. And obviously she would be welcome at any time.”
When anchor Savannah Guthrie asked if a potential performance was in the works, Goodell cryptically replied, “I can’t tell you anything about that,” before adding, “it’s a maybe.”

He also tried to turn the pressure onto Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation has produced the halftime show since 2020.
“I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands,” Goodell joked. “I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.”
Swift has been a staple of NFL Sundays the last two seasons as her relationship with fiancé Travis Kelce blossomed. Kelce, also 35, plays tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, who have played in the last three Super Bowls. Swift was present for the last two.
While nothing seems definite, some Swifties seem convinced that she will get the nod based on some clues they feel the “Cruel Summer” singer dropped during her August 13 appearance on Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.

For one, she said on the podcast that she has watched every Super Bowl halftime show, which of course got the football-heavy audience talking.
But not every reference was so obvious. She also said she thinks about sourdough “60 percent of the time.” Next year’s Super Bowl will be the 60th, and the San Francisco 49ers will host the game. The 49ers mascot? Sourdough Sam.
Swift also thanked Jason on the podcast for “screaming for 47 seconds.” Levi’s Stadium, home of the 49ers, was the 47th stop on her Era’s Tour.
As an added bonus, Swift has often said 13 is her favorite number. This coming season will be Travis’ 13th in the NFL.
She has also said in the past that she would not perform at the Super Bowl until she owns or rerecords all her music. She accomplished that feat in May, when she bought the masters for her first six albums.
But before anything is official, Swift is working toward another major milestone — her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, is set for an October 3 release.
