Omarion Hampton start or sit: Week 16 fantasy football advice

The Los Angeles Chargers take their 10-4 record and current 5 seed to Dallas on Sunday to face the 6-7-1 Cowboys as 2.5-point road dogs on Sunday. The Cowboys have a sliver of a chance at sneaking into the playoffs, while the Chargers are in at the moment, but can’t let off the gas just yet.

Running back Kimani Vidal played well in RB Omarian Hampton’s absence and now that Hampton has returned, Vidal has continued to play more snaps than the rookie, but Hampton has more touches. In the two games since he returned, Hampton has seen 31% and 36% of the snaps to Vidal’s 69% and 64%. In total touches, Hampton has 15 and 16 to Vidal’s 15 and 13.

Below, we’ll go over Omarion Hampton’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 16.

Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers, RB, Omarion Hampton

The split between Hampton and Vidal is based on the “hot hand” approach so far, which doesn’t give us much to go on. Hampton did see more short yardage work while Vidal saw more third-down work, but toward the end of their Week 15 game, Vidal took over a big chunk of all the plays.

I’d say we can count on them splitting work, with a lower floor for both, but still decent upside as well, just a little more inconsistent than we’d hope. The Cowboys have been better against the run since acquiring Quinnen Williams, but we also just saw the Lions rush for four touchdowns against them.

Williams is in concussion protocol, but has returned to limited practices. If he can’t be cleared, feel much better about starting both Chargers backs, but even if he does play, I’m flexing both still.
