Philadelphia Eagles fans fired up ahead of wild card matchup against San Francisco 49ers
Excitement is building as Eagles fans across Philadelphia are gearing up for Sunday's playoff matchup against the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field.
Preparations are already underway at the stadium, where a newly painted mural now welcomes fans who are eager to capture photos ahead of game day.
The artwork is part of a growing display of playoff energy surrounding the city, where Eagles flags line light poles and buildings across the skyline are set to glow green.
Fans say they're ready for the Eagles to bounce back from their most recent loss and make a deep postseason run.
"We're ready, we're fired up, we're gonna win," said Tammy Thorpe of West Philadelphia.
Others described the atmosphere as electric.
"Energy! Energy is key, baby! It's the city on fire!" said Bonnie Williams of Chestnut Hill, New Jersey.
The team's Road to Victory bus tour made a stop at City Hall on Thursday to rally fans ahead of the big game. Many expressed confidence that the Eagles will come out on top.
"Confident is an understatement. We're the best city in the world. We got the best teams. Go Birds!" Williams said.
Tickets for the first playoff game of the season are selling for $230 and up. Despite the prices, fans from near and far say it's worth it.
"Playoffs, who wouldn't want to be at the playoffs? Go Birds!" said Tyrone Burton of South Plainfield, New Jersey. "We've been here before, so it's nothing new to us."
Burton and his partner said they'll be at Sunday's game and plan to be among the first tailgaters.
"We're gonna bring our grill. We're gonna be here as soon as everything is open for us to even enter," he said. "A couple of buddies of mine are 49ers fans, so they should be out there as well. So we're gonna see how that goes for them."
Inside the stadium, artist Justin Klement has been busy painting the new mural, continuing his tradition of creating fresh artwork for every Eagles home game.
"I enjoy doing it, I enjoy painting," he said.
He hopes the mural adds to the fan experience.
"I just hope to give the fans an experience, you know what I mean. Something that didn't exist before, now they get to see it the first time on game day," he said. "I think the fans are gonna be electric. San Francisco coming into town, playoffs, there's nothing like it. Philly sports at home, can't beat it."
Kickoff is Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in South Philadelphia.
Go Birds!
