Sasha Farber, Alan Bersten Are ‘Not Not Friends’ Amid Emma Slater Romance

Dancing With the Stars’ Sasha Farber is reflecting on where he stands with ex-wife Emma Slater and her new boyfriend, Alan Bersten.

“We are still close,” Farber, 41, said of Slater, 36, in an interview published on Wednesday, November 19, by E! The Rundown’s official TikTok account. “I mean, listen. We are friends. … I don’t like bad blood. I thank her for the incredible years that we’ve had together, incredible memories. We built so many memories, we’ve toured the world. Life is life and sometimes things don’t work out. We just move on and want the best for each other.”

When asked whether someone he’s dated has ever thought it was “weird” that he and Slater work together on DWTS, Farber replied, “I’m sure” and noted that “they have” expressed that.

“I explain to them, like, there’s nothing that would ever happen there. Do we want good things for each other? Yeah,” Farber continued. “Her mail still comes to my house, she was over the other day. I don’t look at her anymore like she’s someone who I was married to. I look at her as a friend.”

Farber noted that he has to have a mature outlook on the situation.

“I think at the end of the day, we all go through something,” he said. “We all have hurt. We all have pain. I think that time has passed already, so now it’s, like, wish them luck.”

When asked whether he was referring to Bersten, 31, when he mentioned “them,” Farber replied, “Yeah.” Farber noted that he and Bersten are “not not friends.”

Farber popped the question to Slater during an episode of DWTS in 2016, and the pair tied the knot two years later. In 2023, Farber and Slater called it quits. Their divorce was finalized the following year.

Slater revealed that the reason for their separation was “the kid thing” during a 2023 episode of the “Viall Files” podcast.

“It’s interesting because I do want to have kids, I just don’t want to delay Sasha’s path in having kids because I know that he is ready for that,” she said. “I don’t want to talk about him too much because that’s really for him to say, but it’s about kids.”

She continued: “I do want kids. I don’t know what it is, I’m just figuring that out for myself. It’s not something I take lightly and I don’t want to enter into something that I’m not sure about because I would never do that.”

One year later, Us Weekly broke the news that Slater and Bersten were “hooking up.” The pair sealed their relationship with a kiss onstage during the DWTS tour in April. Slater and Bersten went on to compete on DWTS season 34, where they were partnered with Andy Richter and Elaine Hendrix, respectively.

When Slater celebrated Bersten and Hendrix making it to the season 34 finale, Farber left a supportive message.

“Congrats guys,” he wrote via Instagram, alongside a hand-clapping emoji. Slater responded, “Thanks Sash.”
