Make Me King

This race has become wide open in the betting since the final declarations came out on Thursday.

Make Me King has seen steady support to just be the favourite at the time of writing.

And rightfully so too, the Hamad Al Jehani-trained five-year-old has been incredibly consistent over 1m in his last four races and over 7f when abroad around the New Year.

He beat Ice Max and Prague on his latest outings at Goodwood and Pontefract, but the standout for me is his winning form at courses like this.

He can win at testing tracks like Pontefract but also Deauville, Newcastle, Abu Dhabi where they’ve all got an oval, round mile with easy bends.

Suite Francaise is a great each-way bet to add to this as the filly enters a huge race with plenty of confidence from connections.

Trainer Charlie Johnston is having a great season at Haydock and this three-year-old filly gets a handy allowance to see if she can follow up that course and distance success last time out.

Publish

William Buick is on board the John & Thady Gosden trained favourite in the next race, Publish.

The jockey has the best record here this season so far with seven wins in just 20 rides, just ahead of Paul Mulrennan with six in 30.

The Kingman colt didn’t quite get the debut win expected but went a close second at least.

He then justified an odds-on price at Sandown next time out, but soft ground doesn’t seem to favour him which it could be on the softer side by Saturday.

Way Of Stars

Way Of Stars is an incredibly each-way price considering he placed behind Pole Star Valiancy last time out here in the bet365 handicap.

The Johnston-trained colt was upped 2lb for that run but also gets the weight advantage now from Pole Star who was raised 8lb.

That was a solid victory but this horse has also shown great form over this distance and ought to justify it soon.

Lazzat

This Wathnan-owned horse is the huge favourite for the Sprint Cup.

Rated 120 he’s by far this top-rated horse of the field, has James Doyle on board who is in great form on return to the saddle this week.

This horse won at Royal Ascot in the Jubilee Stakes beating Satono Reve by half a length before going to France in August placing second in another Group 1 race.

That consistency is hard to find in many sprint horses so when they’re running well they’re best backed.

There are a few each-way shouts if not wanting to back a favourite for a sprint such as this.

Flora Of Bermuda, Beauvatier and Kind Of Blue offer some value each-way.

Aramram

Solid form on the all-weather, a close fourth last time out in a bunched finish at Newcastle, two fine margin second place finishes including here over course and distance in the Sprint of this year along with a win back in October last year at Wolverhampton.

Favoured now too having stepped back to 5f at Ascot, back to his preferred 6f.

Invervention is often very popular for his each-way prices and returning a profit plenty of times too.

He’s placed in the top three on the all-weather 35 times from 67 runs and is a seasoned veteran with over 107 races, who has another each-way shout here – as he’s still not won here in seven attempts with a race record reading 2362243.
