Sister Wives' Kody Brown Admits 'Bad Blood' From Polygamy Divorces Makes Him Never Want To Marry Again

Famous polygamist Kody Brown is getting candid about the challenges of a plural marriage and how they have left him averse to ever getting married again.
The “Sister Wives” star was previously married to four women: Meri Brown, 54, Janelle Brown, 52, Christine Brown, 53, and Robyn Brown, 47, but is now left with only Robyn.
Though Kody Brown and his now only wife have danced around the idea of adding a new wife to the mix, they have not acted on it.
Kody Brown On The Downside Of Polygamy: ‘I Would Never Do That Again’

On the Thursday, November 6 episode of “Special Forces,” as reported by US Weekly, Kody discussed his experiences as a polygamist and the toll it took.
“I had 18 kids with four wives,” he shared. “It has been three divorces and I would never do that again — I would never marry again.”
Reflecting on the breakdown of his marriages and the effects on his relationship with his children, he added, “There ended up being some bad blood with family over the divorces. In some cases with my children, communication has ceased.”
The reality star admitted that having a distance between a parent and their children is a “disappointment.” While he was ready to take responsibility for the part he played, it was not all his doing, “but there are probably certain things I won’t own. I will own where I should.”
Kody explained that his choices were rooted in how he was raised, as he disclosed that his father was also a polygamist. “I grew up in an entire culture that had it as a side note to their belief system. My dad had three wives,” he shared.
However, Kody’s marriages did not last long, with his first three wives leaving one by one. Christine announced their split in November 2021, followed by Janelle in December 2022, and finally Meri in January 2023.
Janelle Brown Shares Her Take On Polygamy

Kody is not the only “Sister Wives” star who is now against polygamy. His ex-wife, Janelle, with whom he shared six children, also made her stance known recently.
As reported by The Blast, Janelle joked that the best way to end polygamy was to legalize it. "I can bet you almost would make polygamy go away [that way] rather than chase it underground and put people in jail," she stated.
She quipped that if it were legalized, any man would think twice before going ahead with it.
"Just make it about the financial. No guy's gonna be giving part of his estate to four or five wives. It's just not going to happen," she advised.
Kody And Robyn Brown’s Conclusion About Adding A New Wife

Despite Kody’s revelation about not wanting to get married again, he and Robyn had flirted with the idea of returning to polygamy at the beginning of Season 20 of “Sister Wives.”
According to The Blast, Kody brought up the idea during a dinner date with Robyn, reminding her how she had previously rejected other suitors who were not open to plural marriage.
Although Robyn affirmed that she would have also rejected Kody if he had approached her as a monogamist, she had a condition if they were ever to return to polygamy.
She explained that it would only be possible if the new woman was ready to have a relationship with both of them. Kody agreed with her and stated he was “done” with polygamy if Robyn was fine with it.
Kody’s Reason For Wanting a New Wife

The patriarch had previously disclosed that his reason for considering an addition to the franchise was completely physical and based on sexual attraction.
Robyn was, however, irritated by his reason and did not mince words, telling him he sounded shallow when he said he just wanted to “connect” with somebody new.
Bluntly, she told the cameras that Kody was "just kind of being a bit of a pig right now.”
Robyn Brown's Reaction To Their New Admirer

Still, requests from other women to join the marriage have not ceased.
The Blast shared that during a November 2 episode of "Sister Wives," Kody had told his wife about a woman who was interested in a plural marriage with them.
The reality star revealed that the woman had criticized him for sticking to one wife and offered herself as a potential addition.
Robyn, unimpressed by the mystery woman's approach, then declared, "It's not usually proper to go hitting on a guy. You have to go through the sister wives, you have to go through, like, at least one."
