Teddi Mellencamp's Ex Soft Launches New Girlfriend Amid Her Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp's ex-husband seems to be finally moving on.

Edwin Arroyave has reportedly gone official with his new girlfriend, whom he posted on his Instagram stories. This soft launch comes almost a year after the former couple split, but they have yet to finalise their divorce process.

Teddi Mellencamp has been battling cancer for about three years and has undergone different rounds of radiation and immunotherapy to fight the tumors. Her cancer is now undetectable, but she is not in remission yet.

Nearly one year after the former couple pulled the plug on their relationship, Arroyave is apparently back in the dating field. He posted on his Instagram stories on Monday, sharing an image of himself smiling next to a blonde woman in a black gown with a deep plunging neckline.

He was clad in a black suit, a black shirt, and sleek black dress shoes. He posed with his arm wrapped around her waist and wrote at the bottom of the snap, "about last night @hayet17h" tagging a woman named Elsa.

Photos obtained by The Daily Mail show the pair standing outside with a scenic ocean directly behind them. Earlier this month, while speaking on his podcast, he revealed that he is dating and the relationship is serious. He did not disclose any further details about the relationship or his new partner.

Inside The Former Couple's Ongoing Divorce

In November last year, Mellencamp announced that she had filed for divorce from Arroyave. Their marriage lasted 13 years, and they share 3 children.

She made the announcement of the shocking news to social media, writing, "After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce." She also stated that her children were her priority and their privacy was paramount.

She added that her reason for sharing this news with the public was to avoid rumors and false speculations from spreading.

The news of their divorce came shortly after Mellencamp claimed that she had learned about her estranged husband's affair with a mutual friend only days before she made her debut on the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" in 2017.

Mellencamp allegedly stepped out on Arroyave during their marriage. She blames her cancer on Karma for the acts of infidelity. 

The Reality TV Star Reconnected With Her Own New Flame

Mellencamp entered into a relationship with Ricci Rea, but the union was short-lived, as she initially announced their breakup publicly. In March, just months after her divorce process began, she revealed that she was dating again.

She shared no details about her new love interest at the time. In an episode of her "Two Ts In a Pod" podcast in June, she disclosed that her suitor was a very private person who was currently unmarried with no children.

Three months after announcing her breakup with Rea, The Blast reported that she was spotted walking through Los Angeles' Encino neighborhood, holding hands with him. This supposed makeup came just a few days after she shared some good news about her cancer battle.

The 44-Year-Old Shared An Encouraging Cancer Update

Earlier this month, Mellencamp shared positive updates on her health and ongoing cancer battle. The reality TV star was diagnosed in 2022 and reportedly got worse as the melanoma had metastasized to her lungs and brain.

Mellencamp got news from her doctors during her immunotherapy session that her cancer was now undetectable. She revealed that she would have to continue with her treatments as she was not in remission yet.

The mom of three ended by expressing how surprised she was by the good news because she got really close to death last year. Finally, she disclosed that although her tumors continued to shrink, she would have to be in treatment for about three years to be considered in remission.

Arroyave previously spoke openly about the emotional impact of Mellencamp's cancer diagnosis. In an episode of his "The Eds" podcast, he disclosed that his initial reaction to the diagnosis was to make his ex feel supported and confident.

He added that his priority was to ensure she did not feel isolated. Despite the pain, he took care of her naturally and focused on maintaining their relationship for the sake of their children.

The Blast reports show that her illness brought them even closer as they pushed aside unresolved issues in favor of supporting her through treatment. Arroyave said, "No matter what, I will always love Teddi."
