The 2026 Porsche Macan Electric Has A New Feature Every Car Should Have

Let's all own up to something right now: no matter how long you've been driving, reversing in a tight spot is tough. I drive something like 30 new cars in a given year, and without failure (save for Miatas and the like), it's pretty easy to feel more than a little uneasy backing up your new car into a tight spot. The sensors scream at you even when you're feet away, and all those camera angles don't help much with depth perception. The 2026 Porsche Macan EV will hopefully fix some of this anxiety.

The Macan EV Has A Cool New Parking Feature

The Macan Electric has a new feature, called Reversing Assist, as part of its optional 3D Surround View system with Active Parking Support. It does what it says on the box. Once you've driven over a stretch of road, the Macan EV can learn the route and repeat it in reverse. Porsche tells us the system can remember up to 160 feet of road and will handle both steering and throttle inputs, not unlike BMW's parking assistant.

Porsche says you can use the new system to help navigate "narrow access roads or winding parking garages," and it will pair nicely with another new Macan Electric feature: Trained Parking. That will allow the driver to record a more traditional parking route using the same system. You drive the route once, then the car can repeat it, throttle, brake, and steering. Up to five spots can be saved.

2026 brings a handful of other updates besides, some of which feel a little bit like they should have been there from the start, like digital key functionality. Now, the Macan EV can be accessed with your iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phone as a key. There's also a new gaming service for the optional passenger screen that Porsche calls AirConsole. The latest Macan can also tow more, with capacity now set at 5,500 pounds.

Porsche's latest Macan starts at $78,000, and you can order one now, but expect the car to hit driveways next spring. The Macan EV is pricey, but these updates do help a little. Notably, Porsche's delivery costs are high, and it'll cost you another $2,350 just to get the car delivered.
