Tori Spelling Says She's Cooking For Her Kids Again After 2-Year Break Caused By Dean McDermott Fight

Tori Spelling has revealed how a "triggering" fight with her ex-husband, Dean McDermott, led her to stop cooking for her children.
The actress explained that many of their arguments happened in the kitchen, including their final fight before separating, which prompted her to move out.
As a result, Tori Spelling avoided cooking for two years because the activity reminded her of the pain tied to those moments.
Tori Spelling Reveals Her Final Fight With Ex Dean McDermott Happened In The Kitchen

Monday's episode of Tori Spelling's "misSPELLING" podcast came with a revelation about how she went almost two years without cooking for her kids after a "huge fight" with her now ex-husband.
She claimed that for much of their marriage, McDermott was "super supportive" of her cooking, even though he had more experience than she, having gone to culinary school.
However, despite the many good memories they made in the kitchen, it somehow also became the setting for the few fights they had during their 18 years of marriage.
It was also the same place where they had their final fight amid their marital troubles, which ultimately led to Spelling leaving the home with their five kids, Liam, 18, Stella, 17, Hattie, 13, Finn, 11, and Beau, 8.
"When Dean and I separated, our last fight, kind of when everything blew up, was in the kitchen," the actress revealed about the altercation in the September 8 episode, per People magazine.
Tori Spelling Admits She Relied on Takeout During Break From Cooking

After moving out, Spelling found herself still dealing with the impact of their final fight, which left her with what seemed like a form of PTSD related to cooking.
"For about almost two years I didn't cook, it was like all Postmates, Uber Eats," she revealed.
She admitted that she constantly struggled with guilt over the lifestyle choice, but "physically and emotionally," she couldn't bring herself to cook because it was too triggering for her.
"I just couldn't. It was like it was that day," Spelling added about the situation. "I would walk into the kitchen and literally look at pans and pots, and I don't know, it was like this overwhelming feeling inside of like, I guess that all the pain was locked inside and cooking was just that trigger, which really bummed me out."
The Actress Is Happy To Be Cooking Again

According to Spelling, she was ultimately able to return to cooking for her kids. Even better, she struck a deal with her kids, seemingly as a way to make up for all the lost time.
"I'm happy to say that I went back to the kitchen," the actress told her listeners. "I made an agreement with the kids, like I'm going to cook every night."
"I feel really happy being back in the kitchen and so I've been cooking every night," she further remarked, before admitting that they still order takeout sometimes.
Taking up the responsibility has come with some challenges due to the variety of tastes her kids have, but she has turned to ChatGPT several times for help.
In those instances, the AI chatbot has supported her with recipes and family-friendly cooking tips. However, she admitted that it sometimes gives measurements and portion directions that can be a little off target.
Tori Spelling's Ex-Husband Recently Declared His Finances Amid Their Divorce Battle

Despite Tori Spelling filing for divorce from Dean McDermott in 2024, the two have yet to finalize their separation and are still battling it out in court.
Most recently, McDermott filed an income and expense declaration, seemingly in a bid to avoid paying the spousal support Spelling requested in her divorce filing, per People magazine.
He claimed that he only earns around $3,800 per month from his rehabilitation center, Conscious Community & Vanity Recovery, unlike Spelling, who reportedly makes between $3,000 and $75,000 per month, "depending on the job."
Dean McDermott Reveals He Currently Has Zero Income From Acting

Spelling's ex-husband further noted that he currently has zero income from acting and producing jobs.
He noted that these opportunities "decreased drastically" due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes and overall "industry changes" over the past year.
Adding to his claim, he revealed that his living expenses are covered by his girlfriend, Lily Calo, with whom he lives.
