Toyota’s Upcoming Supercar Roars Into Life Ahead of Reveal

We’ve Seen It Before, In Disguise

Toyota’s V8 supercar, dubbed the GR GT, is anticipated to be a toned-down, homologated version of the GT3 GR racecar. The reasoning is pretty straightforward. At the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Toyota quietly revealed two camouflaged performance coupes, with both racing up the hillclimb. One of them clearly looked like a pre-production prototype of what is the worst-kept secret in supercar land. The other one had pretty obvious GT3/racecar vibes going on.

With the GT3 GR racecar, Toyota intends to directly challenge Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, BMW, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin. All of them sell GT3 customer cars, a market Toyota would like a slice of. The brand hasn’t shied away from commercialising its motorsport cars. The GR Yaris was built as a homologation special for the World Rally Championship. Moreover, FIA rules mandate that WRC and GT3 racecars share a similar body design with their road-going versions. Connect the dots, and it’s clear: Toyota’s latest flagship is essentially a toned-down GT3 racer

V8 Teased, Arrives December 2025

In a YouTube broadcast, at around the 45-minute mark, three sound clips show the 2000GT, Lexus LFA, and the GR GT in full chat. It appears the latest Toyota supercar will indeed sport a V8, quite a revvy one, in fact. Output figures are expected to be in the 700-horsepower range, courtesy of a hybrid system. Several spottings at the Nurburgring show prototypes wearing yellow warning stickers, telling us that somewhere inside the supercar sits a high-voltage electrical system.

While there aren’t many non-camo photos available, fans spotted a billboard at Fuji Speedway showing a partial front view of the car. It reads, “The Soul Lives On,” and features all three of Toyota’s halo cars—the 2000GT, the LFA, and its successor, the GR GT. The new flagship might also have something to do with the Lexus Concept shown at Monterey Car Week.

As for the reveal, Toyota has scheduled the world premiere on December 4, 2025, with the V8 supercar making its first public appearance in January 2026 at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Pop over to the official Gazoo Racing website to see the countdown.
