Travis Kelce start or sit: Week 16 fantasy football advice
The 6-8 Kansas City Chiefs travel to Nashville on Sunday to take on the 2-12 Tennessee Titans. The Chiefs are just 3-point favorites against the lowly Titans because they lost Patrick Mahomes to a season ending ACL/LCL tear. Gardner Minshew will take over Mahomes, which has shrunk their implied team total to 20.5. If Mahomes was behind center, I’d expect that number to be 27 or more. So, Minshew will likely slow down the offense, but does that mean you should bench TE Travis Kelce?
Below, we’ll go over Travis Kelce’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 16.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chiefs, TE, Travis Kelce
Kelce has been much better than I thought he would be this season. He looked completely washed for much of last season, but he’s proven me wrong and put up strong fantasy numbers. It also helps that Andy Reid can scheme him open and that Mahomes and Kelce have a great connection. Now with Minshew in there, we can wonder if Kelce will see a big decline or keep up his usual stats.
What we have going for Kelce is that Minshew is going to dink and dunk, much like Mahomes, and he’s going to try to get the ball to Kelce. Plus, the Titans defense is not good. Over the last three weeks they’ve given up strong games to George Kittle, Harold Fannin Jr. and Brenton Strange. I just don’t see Minshew not using Kelce as his security blanket in this one.
