Trump promises ‘day of reckoning and retribution’ to Minnesota Democrats

President Donald Trump has strong words for Minnesota Democrats in a social media post on Tuesday, where he claimed, without evidence, that they were causing unrest throughout the state due to their opposition to the president’s immigration policies,” according to ABC News.  “’All the patriots of ICE want to do is remove them from your neighborhood and send them back to the prisons and mental institutions from where they came, most in foreign Countries who illegally entered the USA [through] Sleepy Joe Biden’s HORRIBLE Open Border’s Policy,’ Trump said without providing more details. ‘FEAR NOT, GREAT PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA, THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING!’”

The state of Minnesota and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are suing the federal government to stop an enforcement surge by Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an ICE officer,” PBS News reports. “The state and cities filed a lawsuit in federal court on Monday, along with a request for a temporary restraining order to halt the enforcement action or limit the operation. … The lawsuit alleges that Operation Metro Surge violates federal law because it’s arbitrary and capricious, since it says other states aren’t seeing commensurate crackdowns. And while the Trump administration says it’s about fighting fraud, the lawsuit says ICE agents have no expertise in combatting fraud in government programs.”

Multiple news outlets are reporting that around 1,000 more U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are being set to join the 2,000 or so officers already in the state. “Minnesota streets have been flooded with officers from the DHS and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection arms in recent days, and confrontations with protesters have escalated,” according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.

President Trump is ending temporary protective status for Somalis living in the U.S., KARE 11 reports. Somalis currently under TPS will be required to leave the country by March 17. “The move is the latest in a series of actions taken by the administration to quell immigration to the U.S. from certain regions in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. It also comes as a targeted response to Minnesota’s recent fraud scandal, in which many of the accused were of Somali descent.”
