Tyrrell Hatton reveals he slept in his own vomit after Ryder Cup ‘tear up’ with Jon Rahm

Tyrrell Hatton was forced to leave a note in his hotel room after his booze-fuelled Ryder Cup celebrations last month.
The Team Europe star was joined at the bar by Jon Rahm after booking his spot on Luke Donald’s squad.
Hatton was the last of the six automatic qualifiers to earn a place on the team through the Ryder Cup rankings.
His involvement at Bethpage Black later this month was finalised after the British Masters on August 24.
Both he and Rahm, who are teammates on the LIV Golf tour with both representing the Legion XIII team, were in action at LIV Indianapolis on the same day and took the opportunity to celebrate afterwards, with the Spaniard also one of Donald’s six captain’s picks.
Hatton has now lifted the lid on their night, which saw them guzzle wine, gin and cocktails, as well as the state of his bed the next morning.
The 33-year-old reflected on their antics during his press conference on Wednesday ahead of this week’s BMW PGA Championship.
He told reporters: “That was obviously a very nice phone call to receive [from Donald] and I was over the moon, and also Jon had just won the individual [at Indianapolis], so we had a bit of a tear up!
“That was a messy night in the end – I do not want to feel that bad the next day, that was aggressive.”
Detailing the aftermath of their drinking session, Hatton remarked: “When I got back into the room, I fell across the bed sideways and [fell asleep] face down in that position.
“Then I have woken myself up, throwing up in that position, I have then fallen back asleep and then as I’d woken up, I’ve got sick all down my arms, both sides, all down my shirt.
“I get off the bed and walked to the bathroom to look in the mirror, I’m like ‘Oh my God’, I had sick in my face, in my beard.
“How I set an alarm to make a flight in a few hours’ time, I don’t know. But then waking up in a slightly more sober state was horrendous, and having to clean up that…
“I ended up having to call [wife] Emily, I was like, ‘I don’t know what to do!'”
Hatton added: “I was rushing to make the room somewhat acceptable before leaving.
“I ended up stripping in the bed, leaving some cash and a note, saying, ‘I’m really sorry, I was sick in the bed in the night, please throw it in the trash.’
“I feel like I did the right thing upon leaving, bit I was in a pretty bad state, I don’t ever want to get to that state again to be honest.”
How did Hatton celebrate making Ryder Cup?
Hatton went on to detail the plethora of drinks himself and Rahm got through during the celebrations.

Hatton said: “I had six glasses of wine at dinner. Then I had a double gin and tonic, drunk that at a very normal rate.
“And then Jon was deciding what he wanted and he said [Italian liqueur] Disaronno sours and I was like, ‘Perfect, go on then.’ They just go down very easily.
“Then I was an idiot and started the chant of basically getting someone to down it, so every cocktail that then followed was a shot.
“We then ran out of Disaronno. The guy at the bar made some hazelnut sour which wasn’t great and there was a few of them.
“Then there was a margarita and then there was a strawberry vodka thing. God, it was aggressive.
“It was horrible. But it was funny at the time, until I fell asleep and couldn’t finish the last one.”
Hatton is already a veteran of three Ryder Cups, with two of those appearances ending in victory.
However, he was on the losing side in 2021 as Team USA came out on top on home soil four years ago.
As for the European celebrations this time around if they can win in the US for the first time since 2012, Hatton revealed: “I’d like to think that we would celebrate pretty well, and there is a good chance I will be throwing up.
“Hopefully I’m not like falling asleep and I can enjoy most of the night with everyone.”

Ahead of representing Europe in New York, though, both Hatton and Rahm will feature at this week’s BMW PGA Championship.
Sepp Straka is the only member of the team not playing at Wentworth, with each player paired up with at least one team-mate for the opening two rounds.
