UConn football retaining players under Jason Candle
As the transfer portal opens up and commitments begin rolling in, UConn football is keeping on at least a few players from last season’s roster.
Quarterback Tucker Macdonald was a backup for the Huskies this season, seeing some spot time across the 2025 season. His return brings depth and experience to the QB room.
Kylish Hicks, who started his career with UConn as a receiver and has since moved to defensive back, is coming back. The rest of the starting secondary is in the portal, so this is a welcome return for a player with a lot of experience in the Husky program.
Ty Chan, an offensive lineman from Massachusetts who started his career at Notre Dame, transferred into UConn last season and served in a rotational role. He’s coming back and may have a chance to start for the Huskies this fall.
