USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, Nov. 25: UFC Qatar fallout
Considering it was a Fight Night card that wasn't getting a lot of attention, the UFC's debut in Qatar led to some significant movement in the rankings.
In the main event, Arman Tsarukyan (23-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) submitted Dan Hooker (24-13 MMA, 14-9 UFC) in his return from a lengthy layoff. In the process, he reasserted himself as the likely top contender for the lightweight title now held by Ilia Topuria – and he moved up the pound-for-pound charts quite nicely, too.
The welterweight division continues to be a lot of fun, and it got a little more complicated in Qatar when Ian Machado Garry (17-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) outworked ex-champion Belal Muhammad (24-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) in the co-feature. Check out Garry's move at welterweight – and another big move for a fellow contender at 170.
Plus, see where Waldo Cortes-Acosta (16-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) moved to with his fourth win of 2025, a bonus-winning knockout of Shamil Gaziev (14-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC). And the return of Kyoji Horiguchi (35-5 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who submitted Tagir Ulanbekov (17-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) for a bonus in his first UFC fight in nine years, will shake things up at flyweight.
Check out all of the moves in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings.
