The Golden State Warriors have a lot to do on the evaluation front heading into the 2026 NBA trade deadline.

With that key date still one month out, the Warriors have time to figure out exactly what they need. They’ve been linked to a handful of potential trade targets, with the Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr becoming the most common link to the Warriors at this time.

Following the Warriors’ recent win over the Milwaukee Bucks, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson revealed the latest on the potential trade prices for two key players, including Porter.

Based on what he’s gathered, Porter could currently cost two first-round picks, Jonathan Kuminga, and additional players to match salaries.

Porter, 27, is making $38.3 million this season. He has one more guaranteed year on his contract and will earn up to $40.8 million in 2026-2027.

Beyond Porter, Johnson mentions the New Orleans Pelicans veteran Trey Murphy. He has heard that Murphy’s tag just might be higher than Porter’s at this time, costing three first-round picks, Kuminga, and players.

Murphy is making $25 million this season, marking the first year of a newly-signed four-year contract, which will run through 2029.

Entering the NBA, Porter was one of the most prominent young players coming to the league. As he dealt with injury concerns early on, Porter struggled to live up to the hype. However, he played a solid role with the Denver Nuggets and helped them win an NBA championship.

With the Nets this season, Porter is averaging 26.2 points while shooting 41 percent from three. He is also coming down with 6.5 rebounds per game.

As for the 25-year-old Murphy, he has averaged 14.7 points throughout his career. This season, he produced 21.3 points per game, while shooting 38 percent from three in 35 matchups.

The Warriors are expected to part ways with Kuminga, who becomes trade-eligible on January 15. His salary for the season is set at $22.5 million. It’s unclear who else could get packaged alongside Kuminga when the time comes, but it’s becoming clear that the Warriors have to start finalizing their targets to get a deal done as soon as possible.
