Why ‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Star Amy Slaton Didn’t Pick Tammy As Maid of Honor

1000-Lb. Sisters star Amy Slaton is opening up about her wedding decisions.

In Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of the Tuesday, January 13, episode of TLC’s reality show, the bride-to-be meets with her close friend Ollisha Davis (Lee Lee) to ask if she will be her maid of honor.

“You know I will. I’ll do anything for you. I love you. I am honored,” Lee Lee says while trying to hold back tears. “I’m going to be here for you. Every step, everything and anything you want.”

Although Lee Lee appears more than thrilled to accept the honor, she can’t help but acknowledge her close friend’s estranged relationship with sister Tammy Slaton.

“Most of the time, somebody’s wanting somebody really close to them — a sister or auntie or something — but she asked me, and I feel honored,” she shares in a confessional interview. “I do know the whole family. There are a lot of things going on right now. I understand it’s a sensitive subject for her, so as maid of honor, I’m just going to try to help them keep the peace.”

In a separate interview, Amy explains why she chose a close friend over a blood relative to hold the very important title of maid of honor.

Before marrying Brian Lovvorn, Amy shares that she wants someone who “actually lets me talk and express myself.”

“I’m sure Tammy’s going to be pissed by not being my maid of honor, but I don’t give a s***,” Amy says. “Yeah, we have one good outing. Whoop de whoop. At the end of the day, this is my wedding. Why does it got to be Tammy? Tammy, Tammy, Tammy. This ain’t about Tammy.”

On the January 6 season premiere of 1000-Lb. Sisters, viewers watched both Amy and Tammy explain their issues in separate interviews. As it turns out, the pair hadn’t spoken to each other in more than two months at the time of filming.

“The latest with Tammy is f*** her,” Amy shared. “I’m not living my life in a shell to please her anymore. … I think I’m better off not talking to her.”

While Amy said she didn’t like her sister calling her a “drag queen” on social media, Tammy believed there was something more to the feud.

“Last time I seen Amy, we got in this big argument,” she recalled. “I tried to tell her how I felt that she abandoned me and she just flipped it and said I was bullying her and all this stuff. I don’t know why she thinks all of us are bullying her. Do we tease each other? Yes! Do we give her advice? Yes! Does she listen? Not really.”

Tammy continued, “I can only handle so much of her whining and talking about nobody loves her or supports her. I’m your biggest supporter. I’ve been there since day one. If Amy needs space because she feels like the world hates her and her family included, then that’s what I’m doing.”

1000-Lb. Sisters airs on TLC Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
