Tom Cruise's whirlwind romance with Ana de Armas has reportedly ended after they realized they weren't made for the long run.

The pair became the talk of the town earlier this year after they were spotted taking casual strolls through London as well as enjoying helicopter rides together.

However, sources revealed that the inner workings of Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas' relationship were affected by the pressure from work and Scientology.

The action star and the actress seemed to be Hollywood's most electrifying pairing just nine months ago, when they first sparked romance rumors.

At the time, they stopped by London's Soho to get takeout on Valentine's Day, but reports claimed the "Top Gun" actor was only discussing a film project with her.

In May, she was officially cast in his movie "Deeper," but by this time, they'd sparked relationship rumors as they were seen riding together in his helicopter.

Although they never made any red carpet appearance together, Cruise brought her along as his date to David Beckham's 50th birthday celebration, where they danced and lovingly held hands.

By this time, insiders said they were "inseparable" as they were pictured walking through Hyde Park with her dogs. They also stopped by the Wembley Stadium together for an Oasis concert before jetting out to Spain on a private jet.

Cruise and de Armas were already considering walking down the aisle, and were reportedly in the process of shopping for million-dollar homes together.

Despite Cruise's efforts to woo de Armas, it has been revealed that they've gone their separate ways.

According to the Daily Mail, a source stated that the couple realised they were "better as just friends" and had seemingly encountered some unsettling disturbances in their relationship.

A source said, "Tom and Ana had a good time together, but their time as a couple has run its course. They are going to remain good friends, but they aren't dating anymore. They just realised they weren't going to go the distance."

Another source told the news outlet that their relationship fizzled out because they "weren't able to figure it out as a couple."

The insider explained that Cruise and de Armas "realized" that they "should keep it professional," adding that they "wanted to save the future of their friendship and their movie."

"They got together to see if they would be able to work together, and that developed into something more, which neither of them expected," the insider said.

The insider went further to insist it's natural, saying, "Like any good movie, it all comes to an end, and that was the case for Tom and Ana."

The Role Of Scientology In Their Split

At some point during their relationship, the "Mission: Impossible" star was understood to be serving as her spiritual mentor, and would often give her instructions in Scientology.

According to the Daily Mail, an insider reflected on whether the controversial religion had a hand in their split, saying their relationship "didn't go deep enough or last long enough for Scientology to make or break their relationship."

Cruise has been a faithful follower of Scientology and has raised eyebrows for some of his beliefs. He previously slammed Brooke Shields for taking antidepressants and, on the set of "War Of The Worlds," reports claimed there were "Scientology tents" where cast and crew could learn more about the religion.

His former marriage to Katie Holmes was seemingly affected by the religion, as the actress grew uncomfortable with raising their daughter Suri as one.

The marital woes compounded as the actor was hardly at home. Yet, even though she got a shopping budget of about £80,000 [$107,000] a month, an insider said they eventually called it quits as "they really couldn't drag out the pretence any longer."

The ever-busy actor still had time to keep up with surprises when he visited the set of "NCIS: Origins" on the Paramount Studios lot.

Although the reason for his visit remains unknown, Cruise has business with the studio, including "Top Gun 3," which is still in development, according to Deadline.

"NCIS" writer David J. North took to Instagram to share a post upon the actor's visit, which had him dressed in a black button-up shirt with folded sleeves and pants.

"As we kick off a new season of Origins, it was awesome to have @tomcruise stop by yesterday to hang out and show some much support to our show and the entire @ncisverse," North wrote in the caption.

He continued, "@ginalucita and I took inspo from the bar in Top Gun when we dreamt up our bar, Daly's. So we were stoked he approved lol. Thanks for all the advice and the love, Tom."
